Dear Fellow Rotarians,
I hope this message finds you well and inspired by the incredible impact we
continue to make together.
As we look ahead to World Polio Day 2026, our district has a unique
opportunity to lead in a bold, visible, and unifying way. With the support
of District Governor Elect Jeff Kolin, we are launching a District 5130 End
Polio Now Torch Relay—a multi-day, north-to-south journey across our
district that will bring together clubs, communities, and partners to raise
both funds and awareness in our final push to eradicate polio.
This effort reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that no child is
ever paralyzed by a disease we already know how to prevent.
To make this vision a reality, we are forming a District Committee, and we
are seeking passionate Rotarians who are ready to help lead this effort.
Committee Opportunities Include:
• Route & Club Coordination (north ? south relay planning)
• Event Logistics & Safety
• Fundraising & Sponsorships
• Marketing, PR & Social Media
• Youth Engagement (Interact/Rotaract participation)
• Community Partnerships
Why Get Involved?
• Be part of a signature district-wide legacy project
• Help raise funds that will be tripled through the Gates Foundation match
• Engage your club and community in a powerful, visible way
• Contribute to the global mission of ending polio—forever
Whether you can take on a leadership role or support a specific piece of
the project, your involvement will make a meaningful difference.
If you are interested in joining the committee or would like to learn more,
please reply to this email, reneetmckenna at gmail.com by* April 25, 2026.* We
will be scheduling an initial planning meeting in the coming weeks.
Together, we can turn this vision into a movement—one that unites our
district and brings us closer to a polio-free world.
With gratitude and excitement,
Renee McKenna
