Dear Rotary Club Presidents, Assistant Governors, Fellow Rotarians,
Thank you to everyone who has already expressed enthusiasm for our *District
5130 End Polio Now Torch Relay*, taking place *October 2–24, 2026*.
Planning is well underway, and I would like to thank the *Rotary Club of
Crescent City*, which has graciously agreed to host the *Opening Ceremony
on October 2*, and the *Rotary Club of Petaluma Valley*, which will host
the *Closing Celebration on World Polio Day, October 24*.
We are also grateful to the clubs that have already indicated their
interest in participating along the relay route. Your early commitment is
helping us build an exciting district-wide event that will showcase Rotary
in action while raising awareness and support for the fight to end polio.
If your club is still considering participation, we would appreciate
hearing from you by *July 20th* so we can begin finalizing the relay
schedule.
The next planning meeting will be *Tuesday August 4th at 6 PM via zoom.*
Please reply to reneetmckenna at gmail.com with:
• Confirmation that your club plans to participate.
• The name and email address of your club's Torch Relay contact person.
• Any preliminary ideas your club has for hosting a torch handoff, walk,
community event, or fundraiser.
Every club's participation—whether large or small—will help create a
memorable district-wide celebration of Rotary's commitment to ending polio
forever.
Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to working with all of
you as we make this historic event a success.
With gratitude,
*Renee McKenna*
Chair, District 5130 End Polio Now Torch Relay
