Dear Matt,
I well remember the days when we would raise $50,000 from the Art Auction to provide many scholarships and community grants and fund great programs such as international student exchange, world projects, etc. That money was raised by the efforts of all rotarians on the day of the event and by the efforts of folks like John Porter and Don Tucker and Frank Englehart who had a vision of possibilities and an eloquent way of convincing friends, family and associates to support Rotary with a letter and a personal note.
The times have changed but the needs have not. We are doing some amazing things in Mendocino but there is still much to be done. I would very much like to help in any way that I can. We no longer live in Mendocino but we consider Mendocino to be our “Hometown”. It is so special because the heart and character of the community beats strong and every citizen has a vested interest in making it the kind of place that it is. We have many friends and associates that I would be willing to reach out to and I would be proud to use John’s list and letter to approach folks I do not know.
Sincerely
LaDonna
