Dear Rotarians,
Toby had the great honor of presenting Mendocino Rotary scholarship awards
to two extraordinary young adults on Wednesday evening in Mendocino. One
recipient was Josephine Steinbuck, Mendocino Community High School for
$2,000, and the second was Willow Jakovac at Mendocino High School for
$3,000.

Josphine will be attending UC Santa Cruz to study Environmental Systems
Management, including Marine science and policy.

Willow will be attending San Francisco State University to study
Psychology, with plans for social work.

We wish them well, and believe we will see and hear great things about
these young scholars.

At our club/board hybrid meeting yesterday, we voted to approve $700 to
send one Interact Club student to the week-long Rotary Youth Leadership
camp (RYLA) at Westminster Woods in Sonoma county. Our student, Anastacia,
who volunteered the entire day at the Stand With Ukraine event, is our
camper. She will join other Interact students from the entire district. It
is a Rotary District leadership development camp, and quite low cost as
camps go.

Serving on our Youth Services committee is a great way to connect with more
than the small circles we sometimes occupy in our lives. Dictionaries for
3rd graders, Interact Club advising at the High School, Youth Leadership
camp selection, and scholarship committee are the main things we do for
Youth Services. We are bringing up our future leaders.

All members are welcome to join the Youth Services committee for next year.
Donna
