[Rotary] Subject: Zoom--How to Join a Meeting

Guys,
I have at least a part of the mystery of how to join a meeting quickly and efficiently sorted out. To begin, I have deleted a provision in my own personal zoom requiring a password for a meeting. All you need in the way of codes is the meeting ID of the host which you will get in the first line of the standard invitation e-mail from Zoom. The host of any meeting, who has to have Zoom, sends the invitations out through his/her Zoom account by e-mail. We can use Rotary at lists.mcn.org plus any others (such as a speaker or a guest) we want to invite for a given meeting.
My meeting ID is 203-209-3680. If Matt or anyone else (a speaker for instance) hosts a meeting there will be another number. You may need to type this in if you are working from a computer.
You do not need to have Zoom to participate from an I-phone or I-pad or any other device with a touch-pad. If you are using such a device, you simply touch on the first part of the invitation and it will redirect you to the meeting.
If you are participating from a computer, you can copy the URL (https://zoom.us/j/2032093680 for a meeting hosted by myself) and paste it in your browser. You will then either be directed to the meeting or to sign in for a zoom account (you might leave an extra five minutes the first time you do this if you do not have zoom and have to create an account) and then you can join the meeting.
You can also telephone in. Your voice will be heard but not video. To telephone in you choose any one of the dial-in numbers in the invitation (You do not need a local number, any one of the numbers shown in the standard invitation seem to work), dial the telephone number which will ask for the meeting ID number, and type that in. You will then be into the meeting. I have tried it, and it works. So no excuses.
Once you are in the meeting, there are some options concerning video, audio, the number of screens you will see and so on. I think you can control most of this from the icons in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Matt is better at this than I am, if you need more guidance.
We apologize to any members who could not get on during the meeting of 3/26 and hope you will join us for the upcoming meeting on 4/2 which will be at 12:00. Lets aim at all of us getting into the meeting within 10 minutes.
I hope you are all doing those things you put off in more normal times: cleaning out the sock drawer, doing the filing, paying your taxes, doing a puzzle or board game, deleting unused apps, adding in new and useful ones such as zoom.
Cheers,
Jeff Stubbs
