I am not sure how much all here are aware of the role West Business Center
(former West Company) has been playing in the stages of reopening, but they
have played a very large role. They have been holding round tables with the
Board of Supervisors Ad Hoc committee AND many sectors of the business
community and working with Dr Doohan.
https://www.mendocinocounty.org/business/business-resource-for-covid-19 and
the state page for business
https://covid19.ca.gov/industry-guidance/#top this helps needy seniors and
our restaurants, if you know anyone, let them know
https://covid19.ca.gov/restaurants-deliver-home-meals-for-seniors/
Businesses have played a significant role in creating guidance for
businesses to reopen safely under the self certification program. Kevin
Williams, one of our former Rotarians works at West. I appreciate the
Community Foundation and Megan, however before we fund, we should know more
about the most needy of small businesses, and ones whose business and
people we will miss if they do not survive. They need other supports
besides money we give to the business Resiliancy and Innovation fund. We
have some strong business people in this club that could do in kind
donations of service as part of the mix of offerings. It may also be a way
to draw people to our club that have these skills and want to join an
established means for service. Lets see if we can arrange for a Zoom
meeting with Kevin.
As usual, sorry I could not make the meeting, but the good news is we are
orienting to the new platform that Saleforce has developed for Contact
Tracing, and the state is providing it at no cost to counties. I am the
lead of Contact Tracing and have been sending staff and volunteers through
the UCSF/UCLA/CDPH training so that when we have our first real wave (not
the trickle of cases), modeled and predicted around labor day for our
county, we will be prepared.
