[Rotary] COVID money

Dear Rotarians:
During last week's meeting it became apparent that we need to do more to research, discuss and agree upon a COVID-19 project. Ray's comments were on the mark, and following the meeting I got a similar vibe from the school which has said they may prefer it if we provide food and clothing support rather than support for distance learning for the students from disadvantaged families. I do not know yet why they would take that position, but clearly we need to discuss their needs with them as Ray pointed out.
I suggest therefore that we devote most of our next meeting to the Covid-19 project, and as necessary parcel out tasks to various club members as necessary to get the various issues resolved.
To provide us all with the same background, a draft district grant paper which I prepared before last week's meeting is attached. Most of it is still relevant, although it is quite likely that the project description will change, depending upon what we come up with. I will plan on reworking it after our meeting of the 20th and before our meeting of the 27th.
We will have a regular zoom meeting next week on August 27, followed by a board meeting on the 27th to approve the budget. For purpose of the budget, I would like to see a paper or working note from each committee and avenue of service chair. At present, we have such notes only for international and COVID-19, and the latter needs to be updated.
Although we had a good turnout last seek, several members continue to miss meetings. Please, if you are a committee chair or co-chair, or if you have been working on a project that is of importance now, plan to attend next week's meeting.
Cheers,

I agree with Ray.  We need to help where we can but not be the only
supporter.  We have a relatively wealthy town and school district who
should help.  In addition to Rotary, they should be stepping up.  Perhaps
we should write an article for the paper about the situation and work on
follow-up.

Having a wonderful time in Cabo away from the virus.
