William, I don't have the distribution group addresses for the book club,
but if you could send this on I would appreciate it.

Cynthia and I spoke to Janis this morning and got the latest update on
John.  He is conscious, but weak and disoriented.  The blockage in his
throat was simply a bolus of food that did not pass on to his stomach.  He
could not swallow at all.  It appears that normal peristalsis has stopped.
 Sometime today they were going to give him a small amount of apple juice
and see if he could swallow that.  He is receiving nutrition
intravenously, so calories are not an issue.

He is too weak for visitors, but prayers and good thoughts are welcome.  I
am sure we all hope that he begins to recover and is his normal self in
time for the discussion of John Muir.
