Hi All,
We had an excellent meeting and program this week. Amanda Reimen gave a
concise talk on Cannabis, including how Cannabis addresses the Six areas of
Focus of Rotary worldwide. Http://www.rotary.org My biggest regret- that
we did not record the program! Thank you for coming, and for bringing
guests. Guenter was awarded Rotarian of the month for his consistent
attendance, support of fundraisers, excellent communications via email,
phone, etc, and of course for photography! He is exemplary as a Rotarian,
and I am glad we have him in our club. Last month's Rotarian of the month
was Heather. She was awarded at our last evening meeting, which I know many
of you missed. Heather has high standards and also consistently does much
the same as Guenter, for example, business was taking her out of town this
week and a quick email let me know. One of our guests, Esther Koch was
Heathers guest. That is good Rotarian-ship :-)
Remember, our meetings begin at 11:45. Chris Calder of the Advocate was
told to put 12:15 in the paper by a member. We don't want people straggling
in. Our speakers do not always start at 12:15 or 12:30. I reduced club
business time this week to allow for Amanda's program, and more time for
club members and guests to talk with each other. We'd like to have guests
sign in so that we can introduce them- and WE SHOULD always be getting
their email address. We can discuss inviting, sponsoring, and guests etc.
this week. All meetings from this time out are lunch meetings- unless we
decide to do something for Earth Day April 21 in the park instead of our
picnic on 4/19. Our debunking will be in June, date TBD, and I liked how
Jody had it at the Ravens last year. Past President Gary plans the
debunking. Change is good.
FUNDRAISERS
Our Golf Tournament is August 18th. I talked with Kathy Sheply at the LR
Inn Golf Course this week to schedule. Jody took initiative (Sean threw a
shoulder nudge, it may have been Sean instigating :-) ), and said he'd
chair. I volunteered to co-chair, but I can give it up to anyone who wants
it, and I'll focus on grant writing! I updated the website Golf Tourney
date. If Kira or someone who has ADOBE can change the date and information
on our Tournament Registration Flyer, we can put a PDF on our website, and
link to the LR Inn Calendar of events. We already have one good auction
prize of the Lodging and Wine tasting in Healdsburg. We discussed doing a
fundraising mailer, and now is the time to get going on that.
DISTRICT AWARDS CRITERIA- Attached from Dist. Gov. Bob Rogers
Our deadline for submitting the District awards criteria is April 15th.
Please read and complete the attachments. I am asking each avenue of
service MEMBERS (thats everyone in this club) and the committee chairs to
review the district awards criteria and submit to me no later than this
Thursday 4/12/18. I will hep you complete it if you need me, and this will
be a helpful segway for this weeks meeting, which is a club forum.
*I am also asking everyone to review the Handbook titled Priority #1 Plus
Workbook (Blue Cover) which I gave everyone in July prior to this weeks
meeting, as it is the basis for building a better club. If you need a
replacement, please let me know ASAP. I have a few extra's and can make
more.*
This Weeks CLUB FORUM meeting
There will be an agenda, and there will be time for round table
discussions, then a final recap from each committee for our club. How else
are we going to be productive and reach the goals we set earlier in the
year? How will we know what the committee's need help with to complete, if
we don't handle this in our forum? Now is the time to wrap up your
committee projects. IF you are a committee chair, and are not going to be
at this weeks meeting, you'll need to send someone in your place who is
prepared to lead your committee round table and get work done. The meeting
will be downstairs this week, as another meeting was scheduled for
upstairs. The food will be Thai. The elevator has been fixed, so please
spread the word. John Porter is recovering, and made last weeks meeting.
Happy dollars flowed because we were all very happy to see him!
DISTRICT TRAINING ASSEMBLY
Lastly, I decided against driving solo to Santa Rosa today for the District
training Assembly today. Gary had to cancel due to employees calling in
sick. I was out on the road yesterday, and I could not make it to my
meeting in Elk due to mudslides and flooding. I don't believe I need more
training. Nor does Gary. Silo's of knowledge are not helping this club. It
is time for all general members, committee chairs, and Presidents elects
and nominees to come up to speed. Fortunately, the opportunity is still
there-- there is a second District 5130 training this year in Fortuna on
4/21. I am requesting that any member of this club that has not previously
been to a training Assembly, or not in the past three years, to attend the
Fortuna training. Our club pays for your training, and it's a wise
investment.
Thanks much,
Donna ✌

Dear Donna,
This message is being sent to all Presidents in District 5130.
Don't hate me, but it was recently pointed out to me that I had omitted
Youth Exchange from the Awards Package. And since it is one of our major
District service projects, covering both Youth and International Service, I
feel I must make this revision to honor those clubs who participae in this
major program.
And as long as I'm at it, I've made some other revisions, that may
hopefully, help some of you.
I've attached two documents, an Addendum, listing the revisions, and a
modified Awards Package. As I explain in the Addendum package, you can
either use the Revised package to score your points if you haven't filled
out the origional yet, or if you have, just mark the additions on the
Addendum Page, and we'll make the adjustments for you. Whichever is
easiest for you.
I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this is, or will, cause you.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Final reminder that this is due on April 15th.
Thanks.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Bob
