You have been invited to the following event.

Title: Pt Cabrillo Meeting -
Wildlife Biologist Robert Douglas will provide our program.
Title: "My Life Working As A Biologist for A Timber Company--A Natural
Historian's Odyssey."

Robert will bring a large map on a foam core backing, laminated photographs
of some signature species, plus he will make some handouts to distribute
that will have smaller photos and facts.

Mendocino Rotarians and guests may drive to the parking lot behind the
restored Light keepers houses. Please do not park in front of the buildings
or at the lighthouse. Lunch will be served on the picnic tables to the
south of the Light keepers house. You may want to bring a portable folding
chair if you find that more comfortable than picnic table seating.

Robert's Bio:
Robert B. Douglas is currently the Forest Science Manager and Senior
Biologist for Mendocino Redwood Company (MRC). Robert has a B.S. degree in
Environmental Biology from Humboldt State University (1997) and a M.A.
degree in Ecology and Systematics from San Francisco State University
(2003). He has worked at MRC for the past 17 years and leads a team of
scientists who survey and monitor a variety of species and processes on
commercial timberlands for regulatory compliance, the development of
long-term management plans, and third-party certification. Robert has been
involved with studying and managing the northern spotted owl in Mendocino
and Sonoma counties since 1998. He also has a broad interest in natural
history, conservation biology, and ecology which has led him to work on
diverse array of projects to better understand how disturbance influences
plant and animal populations over time. Robert and his team have designed
and implemented projects to study spotted owl nest-site characteristics,
songbird habitat associations, salmonid population dynamics, carnivore
distribution, tailed frog population genetics, and the post-fire response
of redwood.
