Dear Rotarians,
I would like to pass along this most helpful email on the Pedal for Polio
ride to you in hopes that everyone in our club can support John Cottle as he
rides 350 miles from Crescent City to Petaluma.
If you put aside $5 dollars each week starting today, you will have the
$35 pledge by August 31. Buy any amount larger or smaller is fine! Three
things will be accomplished:
1. We raise a record amount for our district and Polio Plus, bringing us
closer to the goal of ending this disease.
2. Your donation counts toward your Paul Harris Fellowship and is matched
by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. The 2-1 match means your money
becomes $105!
3. Your donation counts toward our clubs goal of 100% participation for
"every Rotarian every year.." Which means 100% of our members give annually to
the Rotary Foundation.
I know some of you had to miss this weeks meeting, but I want to let you
know John did receive two pledges, so we are off to a good start!
Thank you,
Donna

Subject: Ways to donate to your favorite Bike Rider
To: <schuler.donna at gmail.com>
Dear Donna,
As you are probably aware, the District is staging a 6 day bicycle ride
starting August 14th, from one end of our district to the other called Pedal
4 Polio. A dedicated cadre of Rotarian bike riders will ride the 350 miles
from Crescent City to Petaluma and solicit pledges for their rides. Our
goal is $84,000, and can only be achieved if each and every Rotarian in the
district donates a minimum of $35. And after the Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundation 2:1 match, that would turn into $252,000.
This note is to explain the 3 ways Rotarians or Friends of Rotarians can
pledge funds toward their favorite rider, and receive Paul Harris Credit for
their donation.
1) You can go to
http://www.imathlete.com/donate/TheRotaryFoundationPolioPlusFund?z=1499036595922 and click on their favorite rider. This is the
easiest method for donating, and for bookkeeping purposes, but the company
running the website charges a 7% fee, so we are discouraging the use of this
method, unless it's conveniece outweighs the cost to the individual.
2) You can pay by check. A donor can make their check out to "The Rotary
Foundation", in the memo section put "PolioPlus", and give to the rider
they are supporting, or to their club Treasurer or Foundation Chair. Attached
to this email are two separate forms, one for riders and one for clubs, to
record the donations they receive. Attention Treasurers and Foundation
Chairs...do not "double record" donations that are given to you by the rider.
They have already recorded the donation on their own form. We ask that
you email the forms to Bob Rogers at crobertrogers at comcast.net on a weekly
basis. The forms are in word, for your greatest flexibility.
3) Go to _rotary.org_ (http://rotary.org/) and scroll to the bottom of the
page, where you'll see a "Donate" button. That will take you to apage,
where you can specify "Polio Plus Fund". Make sure if this method is used
that the donor lets their rider, Treasurer or Foundation Chair know that they
have donated in this way, so they can record it on their form.
A list of riders as of July 21st is listed below. We will update the list
weekly on the homepage of _District5130.org _ (http://www.rotary5130.org/)
