Hello Fellow Rotarians,

The RI Board of Directors voted last January to Clarify the Rotary Policy
on Guns, Weapons, and Armament.

The result of that change in Policy is a political stand on guns, whether
intentional or unintentional, and Rotary has always had a “no position on
politics” stand. Our Club, and many others, would like to have RI amend the
new Policy as stated in the attached cover sheet and Petition.

Our Club has been using gun raffles as a source of fund raising for 30
years and this new Clarification eliminates that source. As long as we
follow all laws and have a licensed dealer handle all transactions why can
we not continue our raffles?

Please review and discuss the attached Petition with your board as soon as
possible. Only a Club President may sign a Petition and you may send this
Petition as is, amend it as you wish, or develop your own Petition, but
please send RI a Petition to ‘Change the Policy Clarification on Guns,
Weapons, and Armament’ that they passed last January

*Time is of the essence. These Petitions must reach RI before mid May to be
considered by the board at the June meeting*.

If you have any questions please contact me.

Service Above Self, Dennis.
