[Rotary] IMPORTANT - a letter from the president

Good afternoon,

Thank you for everyone who came out to attend the Rotary meeting today, and for those of you who missed today, we look forward to seeing you next week.  Please RSVP by next Tuesday so that I can give a head count of attendees to the Hill House.  I will send out a "This Week In Rotary" on Monday with a description of next week's program.

IMPORTANT:  The club has not been able to achieve the average attendance necessary to cover the cost of lunch with $20.  The club is currently operating at a deficit and will once again be forced to increase lunch prices to $25 until a higher attendance can be achieved.  I cannot stress enough how important it is to invite new members to the club.  An increase to membership is the easiest and best way to get the lunch price back down.  If each member brought one new member, our club size would double.  Please make an effort this week to find someone to invite to our next meeting.  Also consider inviting previous members back.

I cannot stress enough how important it is that each member treat everyone in the club with the highest of respect.  There is no room in the club for arguing, or any other disrespectful treatment, to say it simply, be nice - everyone is here to serve.

As membership increases and/or attendance increases, the board will evaluate the budget monthly and once the club is operating at a break even number or better, will repeal the lunch cost increase.

What do you get for your money?  The Hill House is a premier site for our lunches, with dramatic coastal views and a formal dining experience.  The food has been fantastic and they have accommodated our every request.  Programs have been excellent, but they are what you make them.  It is each club member's responsibility to bring guest speakers that are interesting, informative, and inspirational.  Please put thought into who you are going to bring when you sign up for a date, and don't wait until the last minute to find a speaker.

I hope the price increase is only temporary and the board will continue to explore ways to bring the price back down if possible.
