Dear Mr. DeVall,

I beg to differ with your suggestion that Mr. Gregory's off-the-air conduct isn't on topic here.

I started this discussion by asking a candidate for the MCPB board of directors -- Mr. Sakowocz-- if he could identify a booking photo of one Timothy Glenn Gregory of Willits on felony charges. I've never seen the man. Sako then asked Mr. Gregory if he was the man in the booking photo. Mr. Gregory said he wasn't -- sort of -- but wouldn't offer a photo of himself when asked for it.

The only identifier here is his email address: tgregory{at]saber.net. That Mr. Gregory appears to have been more than a programmer in the past. In 2006, it looks like he was on a KZYX 'Steering Committee':

http://well95490.org/well_files/pdf/minutes/2006/2006-04-24-WELL_CC_Minutes.pdf

The minutes of that meeting refer to committee members (or speakers) identified simply as 'Annie', 'Lanny', 'Liam', 'David', 'Spring' and so-on. But with no last names. The minutes were taken by Mr. Gregory himself. The 'David' in this remarkable document is undoubtedly David Steffen, the head of underwriting at KZYX, which is a paid position.

To this reader, these minutes reveal a form of shadow government at MCPB in 2006, something that's never been addressed. Without any photos or last names, but with the agenda of turning KZYX around. Something that definitely happened. 75% of MCPB's net assets have disappeared since then. Along with all of it's equipment value.

It's also interesting to note that only two readers here actually contributed photos of Mr. Gregory -- King Collins and Mendocino TV. You can see them here:

Does anybody have photos of 'Lanny', 'Liam', 'David' and 'Spring'? If so, readers here might better be able to see who was at the wheel when KZYX's death spiral started. Ditto for the rest of those present at that meeting. Last names would be helpful too.

This all began on the subject of Quid-pro-quo cyberstalking. Something that neither Mr. Steffen -- nor any of MCPB's management -- have come to deny, much less condemn. Instead we get offensive utterances from Mr. Gregory. Put yourself in the position of someone who's been tarred with the brush of discriminatory language. Is the utterance 'head case' any different from using the n-word on a person of color? Or a person of _any_ color?

When I asked another candidate for the same position -- Jenness Hartley -- how she felt about that language, she defended it. Claiming that Mr. Gregory has the constitutional right to be annoying. And as a current trustee, she has no influence over him. Because she's 'definitely not the employer.' Mr. Sakowicz said that he'd take action on it. By referring it to the program advisory committee.

How has this all worked out for MCPB? The Form 990s tell all. By 2015, any underwriting revenues have been lost by 'Office Expenses' and 'Legal Expenses' four times over. You can see that as a trend here:

It's interesting that in such a progressive place, progressive individuals can turn a blind eye toward such language, and then publicly criticize the rightful indignation of those who've been subjected to it. Nonetheless, this information was at one time critical to the sustainability of the station. But it was all kept from the board of directors. A practice supported by at least two individuals on that so-called steering committee. One of them is a key employee. The other is a programmer. Who -- by the silence of other MCPB management members here -- has become the voice of KZYX.

Once again, I'm not here to demand any action. Or to see anything done. But merely to report on KZYX's condition and contributing factors so that others can learn from it.

Sincerely,

Scott M. Peterson

Mendocino
