[Kzyxtalk] CAB Programmer Policy

KZYX has been in the hands of some terrible listeners over the past seven years .. just look at the written policies:

http://media.kzyx.org/mp3/Policies/

all of them buried under 'Miscellaneous Reports' on the website .. then look at the meeting minutes here:

http://www.kzyx.org/index.php/about-us/station-business/meeting-minutes

the word policy (or policies) comes up only twice .. and then only by Doug and Sheila .. asking why they weren't

being followed .. and then being vilified for asking the question ..

now check out the 'minutes' from the last board meeting here:

http://www.kzyx.org

'BREAKS: During the meeting, possibly during Ellen’s presentation, a reporter covering the meeting and a candidate

for the board interrupted frequently and claimed the board president was not following clear procedures. The

facilitator called short break to establish calm.'

huh? .. 'to establish calm'? .. or undying obedience to the worst listener of them all -- Meg Courtney ..

if Ms. Courtney had taken the time to read and understand KZYX's written policies, KZYX wouldn't be in the gigantic

mess it's in today ..

remember this, Ms. Courtney .. KZYX's net assets dropped from $360,000 to $80,000 under this 'team effort' ..

maybe it's time for you to read the KZYX policies .. so we can see what a good listener and team player you are ..

.

I would like to say one more thing about this "team effort" concept. From the very beginning I have been told that I am not a "team player," that I don't "work well with others" or that I am not a "good listener."

Nobody seems to remember that I was the host if "Open Lines" and have a county wide reputation for listening to "all points of view."

You know what I heard over and over? "Too much NPR!"

Secondly, if I, as an individual, choose to stand up to fight against unethical, mob-like behavior from a group, would you put me down as "not a team player"? Let's be hyperbolic. If A group of Neo-Nazi's was beating up a black man, and I jumped into the fray to help defend that individual, would you accuse me of not "working well with others"?

This is ridiculous, yet when I see evidence that minority groups are censored at our local community radio station, or speak out against an illegal and undemocratic takeover of the programming at that radio station, this is exactly how I have been treated.

Frankly, I think this community needs to do a lot of soul searching about how this state of affairs came to be, and one would hope, begin to take measures that ensure it will never happen again.

Doug
