Gordon Black, Volunteer Programmer, MCPB -- gblack (at) mcn.org

Dear Mr. Black,

Count me among your fans. I've enjoyed your radio show on KZYX for a

long time. I understand that you're a fan of John Coate. As evidenced by

the statement: "Coate merely saved MCPB." And published here:

http://theava.com/archives/44886#2

I'm sure that you wrote that with all sincerity. Many people -- particularly

KZYX programmers -- have done the same. But there's something you

should see. The Form 990s that Mr. Coate filed here:

http://nccsweb.urban.org/communityplatform/nccs/organization/profile/id/680050440/popup/1

And the audit he left here:

http://kzyx.org/Board/audits/MCPB-Audit-Report6-30-15.pdf

If you study these records, you'll see that John Coate didn't save MCPB.

Quite the opposite happened. During his tenure, MCPB's net assets

dropped by seventy-five percent. While it's debt nearly doubled. Don't

feel bad for your statement. Lots of people made the same statement.

But that statement had one source -- John Coate. It was very difficult to

confirm. Because Mr. Coate was hiding Form 990s. With a policy written

on the Form 990s themselves: "No review was or will be conducted."

I asked Mr. Coate about that recently. Along with the reasoning for that

policy. He wouldn't tell me. Maybe he'll tell you. You can reach him at

tex (at) well.com.

The only reason I can think of is misdirecting good people like you. Into

believing that he'd saved MCPB. When he'd done the exact opposite.

The current forecast for MCPB isn't very promising. According to recent

figures, MCPB's net assets are down to three percent of what they were

before Mr. Coate arrived. And that MCPB will be bankrupt in a matter of

months.

You're a thinking man, Mr. Black. That's evident in the statement you

published. But I implore you. Please study MCPB's Form 990s. And its

latest audit. Then reconsider your statement. And consider publishing a

retraction. To enlighten your fellow MCPB programmers.

Sincerely,

Scott M. Peterson
