I for one appreciate Scott's posts. He makes a statement and then posts
a link to back up his original idea. Sometimes his statements are
abrasive, but it appears that his findings are also quite disturbing.
Unfortunately, I have seen very few rebuttals to his statements that
contain anything other than some form of "kill the messenger". Telling
me that Scott P. is a dirtball or bad parent or overall sketchy dude
does nothing to dispute his comments, no matter how crazy he is, his
statements seem rooted in logical, factual arguments.
For instance, Liz, if he is distorting, please let me know where. He is
not personally attacking a board member when he tells them they are not
doing their job. He is stating his opinion. The board member needs to
stand up and factually dispute his claim and not attack his character.
The Board is doing a job for US, the membership, and they need to be
accountable. There is nothing wrong with asking for some evidence of
job performance when we are paying the bill.
If in fact, Mr. Peterson's claims are constantly refuted with facts
which discredit; his statements will eventually fall on deaf ears. If
however, his character is attacked when he questions policy then I
become interested.
Finally, the idea that the administrator of this or any site is
responsible for fact checking or somehow censoring the people or
thoughts expressed is ludicrous. The beauty of the open forum is that
there is transparency and all opinions can be heard and should be
heard. The more people who participate, the more lively the discussion
and the more "fact checked" the information dispersed. So, please can
we welcome differing opinions and information without attacking those
who present the info.
Unfortunately, I will be out of town for the next board meeting, which I
was planning on attending. Scott Peterson has raised many legitimate
questions that need to be addressed. If the board, somehow dodges the
questions and leaves without providing answers to the membership, I
would find that to be very suspect and would most likely step up my
participation in discovering the truth.
with respect,
Kelly
