[Kzyxtalk] new lows in self-important humbug

Dear Tim,

I think you've brought up a good point. That I should follow the advice of somebody

with no skin in the game. To win friends. Which is exactly why MCPB is in this pickle.

King Collins called that the 'centrist' model:

If you want to 'win friends' -- just hold your nose and look the other way. Raoul van

Hall had another word for it -- 'cronyism'.

This has been going on for a long, long time at MCPB. Jim Tarbell recalled the virtual

impossibility of conducting employee evaluations -- lest the board lose friends:

That was in 1995. Fast forward to 2008. Twenty-three years later, and nothing had

changed. MCPB was in such bad shape it had to resort to stealing from the CPB just

to make ends meet. That went on for seven years, Tim.

On the other end, you've got the egalitarians. Folks like King Collins, Doug McKenty,

Dennis O'Brien, John Sakowicz, Marco McClean -- to name a few. With a listserv like

this. Where anyone can speak their mind. Even Mr./Ms. SM. You won't find that in

the centrist camp. Dissent is forbidden there. There's no real debate there either.

Facts aren't welcome. Only sycophants are.

You wanted safe harbor, didn't you? There's been some progress made toward that.

That was made by Dennis O'Brien -- an egalitarian. What have the centrists done for

you lately?

If you could turn back time -- and be honest with yourself -- which model would you

choose?

Sincerely,

Scott M. Peterson

Wasn't in 'discussion' with you, Smp, tho not surprised you seized another
opportunity to misdirect...you could still follow sm's advice, and win friends.
