[Kzyxtalk] KZYX Forecast

Hi All,

I've been studying the KZYX/MCPB situation for a while.

I've been through reams of financial statements. Minutes, Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, and various policies ad

nauseum. I've also made contact with all levels of management. From station manager up to President of the Board

of Directors. Along with individual directors. I've also been to one board of directors meeting where a member was

arrested for reasonable -- in my opinion -- public comment.

This study has been part of a nearly three-year project. To examine at the nonprofits of Mendocino County, and to

compare them with nonprofits outside the region. What I found here was remarkable. Not just with KZYX/MCPB.

But with lots of Mendocino County nonprofits. Where nonprofit management works against their charters to keep

public nonprofits private. At the peril of their nonprofit missions. This doesn't happen outside the region. It only

happens here. And not just with KZYX/MCPB. Arguably a centerpiece of Mendocino County nonprofits. But with

other centerpiece nonprofits as well.

It's difficult to understand the reason for this situation. And impossible to determine at this time. Possibly much

easier after-the-fact. So no point in speculating for now.

What I can give you is a forecast. Based on two separate trends: Growth and Risk.

The Growth trend is based on internal Form 990s. Filed under penalty of perjury. Over a ten-year period. The Risk

trend is based on external Form 990s. From all KZYX/MCPB grant makers. Also filed under penalty of perjury. And

compliance with individual grant maker agreements.

All factors considered, KZYX/MCPB will likely see a major economic downturn over the next six-month time period

This downturn will be evidenced in layoffs, downsizing, and programming / signal degradation. And possibly

bankruptcy.

There's no such thing as a 100% accurate forecast. But all things considered, I'm reasonably certain of the accuracy

of this forecast.

Sincerely,

Scott M. Peterson

Mendocino

PS: I'm happy to eat a health serving of crow if I'm wrong!
