To the Editor:
On Thursday, January 28, I received an email from KZYX's bookkeeper which read, in part: "Tomorrow is Mary’s [Aigner's] official last day as the program director of KZYX. Cake has been ordered. The plans are to eat the cake and reminisce with Mary beginning at 2 pm at the Philo studio. Come earlier if you would like, and pass the invite on to anyone who you see fit."
Indeed, after 22 years as a salaried employee -- and three years earlier as an original incorporator of KZYX -- Mary Aigner is finally out.
I wish Aigner good riddance. She can now devote her full-time energies to what she does best -- growing marijuana with partner, Hugh Freeman, in Hungry Hollow section of the Anderson Valley. They've been at it almost since Aigner moved to the Anderson Valley thirty years ago. I suspect they're millionaires by now. Their money is probably buried in coffee cans all over their place.
Aigner has a few problems, however.
A quick reconnaissance from a friend's drone shows a grow operation far exceeding the legal 25-plant limit. Google map photos over the years tell a similar story.
Moreover, Aigner steals water from her neighbors. It has resulted in a Hatfield and McCoy type of feud.

In the past, Aigner got a free pass from COMET, but we'll see how that works out in the future. Sheriff Tom Allman and District Attorney David Eyster take a dim view of water theft.
In any case, I wish Aigner good riddance, as I'm sure many other folks are also wishing Aigner good riddance -- namely, those folks who been purged by Aigner and had their shows cancelled, or censored by Aigner and told what and what not to say on the air, or simply unwelcomed at the station by Aigner and had the door slammed in their faces.
Who are those folks, one may ask?
Bruce Anderson. Mark Scaramella. Beth Bosk. Yasmin Solomon. Marco McClean. Johanna Schultz. Doug McKenty. Mary Massey. K.C. Meadows. Els Cooperrider. Norman De Vall.
Just to name a few. There are many others. All are highly qualified media folks who refused to submit to the iron will of "Queen Mary".
So, here's to wishing a new era at KZYX. No more closed clubhouse. No more control freaks. No more private fiefdoms. Instead, let's have a truly inclusive public radio station where no one person controls every damn thing.
Pass the cake!
John Sakowicz
