[Kzyxtalk] The panhandling has now started at KZYX -- from the KZYX webpage -- starve the beast!

The CPB gave KZYX $192k last year. When I asked the board how much we got from donations from members, no one could give me an answer. In 2010 that number was $142k. The financial statements on the web site have combined Membership dues and "Contributions" since then. No one seemed to know what constituted a contribution.

At least from the financial data posted on the web, the idea that most of the station's funding comes from the community is debatable.

And we are an essential part of the local safety net. Most of our funding comes directly from you, the listener. Support KZYX by Becoming a Member for $50. Or, like many of our members, make an additional donation.

We get funds from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, income from underwriting and sponsorships, local grants such as from the Mendocino Community Foundation, and income from special events we produce. But it is direct contributions from members that makes up the bulk of our income and most sustains the operation. Your contribution goes to all aspects of our operating budget: personnel, rent, equipment, programming, insurance and all of the many expenses that are necessary to running the station.
