[Kzyxtalk] misplaced no confidence.

well, another listener heard from. i was addressing the unhelpful warpage of facts
[done with great literary flourish, in marco's case]. why vent your disappointment
in my direction, cf?
i will share/remind that in the current [autocratic?] admin of the station, the
board's your only remedy. sako's grandstanding has proceeded in 1-2 yrs. isolation
from ALL other boardmembers, despite the group's efforts at reasoning with his
concerns. 'ace interviewer' or pathetic 'enfant terrible'? would members re-elect
him if he ran again? doug, by contrast, has thusfar unsuccessfully kept trying to
mediate community, in and out of office. i feel he's grown through his effort.
anyone with an ounce of memory can see where community is losing out to syndicated
programming...but not everyone is suited to the real [albeit volunteer] jobs of the
board, which require patience and teamplay. new members must climb a learning curve
to work effectively as a body--even with an offshore banker/would-be pirate on
board.
my vote's cast. i hope for the best. we'll get the board we deserve.

I might add, I don't HATE anyone or anything that I haven't met or tried personally
first, which means I DON'T hate Stuart, Mary or John, though I am NOT at all
satisfied with the way the station has opted for the NPR programming over better
LOCAL coverage like Christine Aanestad used to be so good at before she was canned,
or Richard Millers program, or Norman Devalls Access program and even Doug McKentys
Open Lines that he was so GOOD at!! And John Sakowicz, despite his eccentricities,
is an ACE interviewer, something that cannot be said about ANYONE else reporting for
KZYX right now, unless for some reason you count Amy Goodman. And I DO know and
HAVE talked with the people above who Mary has canned over the years. And while I
liked some of the shows and not others, the common theme is that Mary Aigner canned
them because she didn't like their viewpoints
that is NOT public radio as it should
be where ONE person controls access to programming despite their being legally
binding (though sometimes disappearing) bylaws that provide for the CAB to help
select programming. All that being said, I probably wouldn't even bother having an
opinion about it if I could hear KMUD where I live.
But I can't and KZYX is SUPPOSED to be a non profit, community radio station, NOT
some sort of jobs program for a few staffers. So, I DON"T hate it, but I DON'T like
it either..it's just too BORING to be good radio!!!
i wrote: yes, cf, i did. if you can keep from CAPSLOCKING, you can probably get a
good reply from stuart about his process...
i agree with the idea of a bonded accounting. the 'numbered ballot' was thought to
be invasive, i think, but i'd love to get a receipt...it's true the members have had
to trust the board + accountant. i can only remember one shady abrogation in my 15+
yrs on scene.

Tim, did YOU get you ballot already?? And WHY should some people get them weeks
earlier then others, and then others get them only at the last week or not at all??
Aren't these ballots being mailed by a hired election company, or does Stuart mail
them out individually as he has time to do so?? In which case I could understand it
taking some time, but then why would Marco have to wait yet another full week after
signing an affidavit about a missing ballot and requesting one from Stuart??
(Netflix gets my movie returns OVERNIGHT) Is Stuart overwhelmed with mailings??
Perhaps Mary Aigner and John Coate are helping him out ?? (kinda of a scary thought,
given all the other work they have to do by themselves for KZYX) And who actually
ENSURES that ALL the ballots get mailed outâ¦Is there a way to cross check the list
of ballots mailed with ballots received?? IS there any transparency in the election
process?? I realize that these are MANY questions, but please answer the only ones
that you can, particularly the FIRST questionâ¦did YOU get your ballot yet??
Sincerely,
Clark Fish
