Yes,
Asking the League of Women Voters to oversee elections at MCPB is a good idea! Some sort of third party should be involved here. It is my understanding that the MCPB protocols require at least a committee to run each election, which could theoretically contain board members and other KZYX members that represent the minority viewpoint.
As it stands, the current board has elected only to appoint one election coordinator to oversee all aspects of the election. While Stuart Campbell is doing his best, it is challenging for one person to do all the work, and make all the decisions, without others to help and act as a check and balance on personal bias. (We all have them!!)
I was happy to see MendocinoTV host a debate this year, just to add such third-party legitimacy. Though Stuart has done a great job handling this responsibility alone, any and all moves to add transparency and decentralization to this election process would be welcome in my view. I hope the new board takes ideas like these seriously.
