[Kzyxtalk] Different kind of station?

Tim,

I feel like we are finally cutting threw the BS and getting to the crux of
our differences. Is programming a management decision? This is John's
contention, and I appreciate that. I am not asking to win an argument, I
am asking to be allowed to have that argument in public, and have the
members decide who wins.

I believe that when the mission statement says the membership "controls the
programming and operational philosophy of the station," that gives the
board the job of deciding what those will be. They can hire a manager to
make those choices, which the current majority has agreed to do, or they
can set up a committee, like the PAC, to help make those choices, which
boards in the past have tried. This is the prerogative of the board.

In the end, i am really happy that we are having a solid contested election
where all these issues have come up. They even published an agenda before
the meeting this time. I wish we were having these conversations on the
radio and am looking forward to the candidates debate.
