I am ashamed to see this op-ed in today's Ukiah Daily Journal.
I guess I'm most ashamed to be on a Board that was given the opportunity to investigate an incident where a male employee of KZYX spit at a woman -- one of the five FCC complainants -- in the KZYX parking lot, but refused to investigate.
This incident isn't a he said-she said thing. I witnessed the incident. I was aghast when Board Chair Elianne Herring dismissed the incident as a "he said-she said thing." Aghast..Shocked. I guess under Chair Herring's logic many, if not most, rape cases would never be investigated, because they are "he said-she said things."
Something else. The credibility of the woman who was the victim in this spitting incident is unimpeachable. She is an artist with a national reputation, and she has been on the salaried staff of a public radio station in a major metropolitan market.
At Monday's, July 7th, Board meeting, at 6 p..m., at the Willits Public Library on Commercial Street, I will be bringing up the incident without mentioning the perpetrator by name. I will not be shut up. I will not be silenced. I have to know why not one Board member has called the victim of this disgusting and humiliating incident.
