The Gift of Forever.

Oh no! 
I missed it all!
I just arrived as it was finishing.
I missed everything!

Does one ever miss anything, I ask,
when a hiatus offers an in-between time,
a temporary break in continuity,
an interruption in unremitting activities, 
a timeless time when nothing happens
and everything takes place?

I once wished for a word
that would put reverence into dread, 
illumination into obscurity,
courage into fear,
a word that would mean hate and love
all at once,
a word of angelic evilness.

As I sit by the ocean I see that word 
dancing with the branches of that faraway tree
as me 
in You,
a shimmering word 
whispering with the light on the water
as You 
in me
a word with a tenderness for al things
revealing the music 
of my inner silence.

I drink that word as I dissolve
in the place where the immensity of sky
meets the infinite ocean,
and when I reach that everlasting shore
all shapes dissipate 
and are reformed as The Word
wrapped as the gift of the Forever
right Now.
