> a cupid piercing the heart of the dreamer
> to awaken beauty,
> and beauty meets the resident 
> at the center of the heart
> where there is nothing
> . . . but love.

> A rooster has awakened my morning 
> to the caring for a body 
> whose manifestation is nearly over,
> a shrunken body that needs help 
> for the shedding of a life well lived
> to dissolve a substance that had solidified.

> That gentle care requires that I reconcile 
> with whatever is not beautiful in my life.
> I must look again at what was harsh, hard, painful,
> find a new setting for my seeing,
> transform what didn’t measure and make it fit
> into the heaven that is earth.

> The rooster crowing from over the hill 
> can release the suffering, let it go with the wind.
> On our altar my beloved and I sacrifice all ancient memories,
> all thoughts and beliefs that weighted us down
> until I there is nothing left but a body releasing its form
> and a love always traveling with beauty.

> As the penumbra dissipates and the day leisurely blooms,
> your body nurtures my gentleness,
> the birds you always fed sing a new song
