Why Celebrate the Spring Equinox?

The Spring Equinox is a potent portal of the year. It is a day of equal dark and equal light - both in the northern and southern hemispheres. It is one of the 4 regularly scheduled planetary alignments of each year - Spring & Fall Equinox, Summer & Winter Solstice. The Spring Equinox is also considered the birthday of the year. The gregorian calendar suggests that the new year begins on January 1st; yet, for the environment, the new year begins with the spring equinox. When we harmonize our rhythm with the cycles of nature, we are fortified by the elementals and with the energy currents of the Earth. Aligning with these tides provides momentum and power to our undertakings.

This year, in particular, the Spring Equinox is taking place inside of an eclipse portal. We had a total lunar eclipse last week - and we will have a solar eclipse on March 29th in North America. March 30th then begins the new year in the Vedic Calendar. The planetary alignments at this time are deeply significant. We are in the process of ushering in a new age. With the Vedic New Year comes the beginning of a new cycle. In particular, it is suggested that we are about to see an acceleration in energy & events over the next 8 years, ushering our world in to a time of peace and harmony. The harmony may come at the cost of the dismantling of systems and ways of beings that operate in discord with Love, Compassion & Unity Consciousness. We are entering into a time in which the world as we know it will operate within the awareness of our identity as intricately linked with nature and one another. We will need to learn to be connected with our hearts, be grounded and rooted with Mother Earth, have our own direct relationship with Source, make choices to support our families and communities and follow our intuitive guidance.

This Spring Equinox is a powerful time to set intentions, consciously create the reality that you want to see in the year ahead, make offerings to the land for blessings and protection for your community, find forgiveness and take the next step into the work that you have been called into this life to fulfill.
