Join Aditi Sethi, Jay Brown and Kim Rosen for a life-changing and potentially death-changing evening, a portrait of what it means to meet death, and the powerful and poignant journey towards it, undefended and curious.

In an underground sanctuary, welcomed by music and poetry, we will watch the movie, The Last Ecstatic Days, followed by a communion of kirtan, poetry, guided meditation, and sharing.

About the film

Ethan Sisser, a young man with terminal brain cancer, sits alone in his hospital room. When he starts live streaming his death journey on social media, thousands of people around the world join to celebrate his courage. Still, Ethan envisions more – to teach the world how to die without fear. To do that, he needs to film his death.

Honoring Ethan’s wish, his doctor Aditi Sethi transports him to an idyllic house in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. What unfolds next is a story rarely glimpsed: how a community of strangers helps a young man die with grace.

A sensory immersion into leaving the body, “The Last Ecstatic Days” reveals a man who will not let us forget him – even after he’s taken his final breath.

All the wisdom teachings of the world tell us that the key to life lies in the manner in which we meet death, within and around us. Join poet Kim Rosen for an immersive journey through poetry, music, ritual, and writing as we welcome all that emerges when we turn towards aging, death and letting go.. Within a supportive, sacred space we will welcome the losses, blessings, fears and awakenings that come from opening to death and loss as a portal to fullest aliveness.

*Please note: It is recommended that participants plan to attend the concert and film screening on Friday night, also at Spirit House.

$40 – $50 (sliding scale), $60 at the door, space permitting. Limited to 30.
