Election 2024: Workshop # 4
Will Our Democracy Control Big Money?

What does Trump’s election portend for the ability of our democracy to stop big money’s corruption of public policy making? Join Donne Brownsey, Chair Emeritus of the California Coastal Commission, veteran lobbyist, and public policy advocate for the Common Good, to address this question on Sunday November 10 from 3-5 PM at the Community Center of Mendocino. Ms. Brownsey fought the gun lobby to pass a California assault rifle ban, faced down big investor-owned utilities  to promote solar power, and protected the California coastline from over development. Using her years of experience fighting big money in politics, she will lay out  what to expect in the next four years and how we can push our state and local governments to curtail any harms from federal initiatives.  We will also discuss local and state election results.
Finally, we want to give everyone an opportunity to share how you feel about the election.
This is the fourth workshop in GRI’s series on Elections 2024. Future workshops will be held on November 24, December 8 & 22 and perhaps into the new year. You can join in person, or via Zoom. The Community Center of Mendocino is at 998 School Street Mendocino, CA 5460.
