Dear poets and lovers of poetry,
Please come to the Mendocino Open Mic Poetry series on Saturday, May
25th, from 4-6 at the Mendocino Art Center, (Barth Studio) and share
your work or the work of others.
The open mic will begin with a featured reader followed by a break and
an open mic.
The featured reader is Ukiah poet Theresa Whitehill, who is former Poet
Laureate for the city of Ukiah (2009–2011; Co-founder of Watershed
Poetry Mendocino (2008–2012) and BAM! (Book Arts Mendocino! 2022) Her
books of poetry include “A Grammar of Longing “and “A Natural History of
Mill Towns”. Her poetry and letterpress broadsides are in many national
fine press collections including the Getty Center for the Arts, UCLA and
Stanford University Special Collections, and the Bancroft Library of UC
Berkeley. She is currently on tour with Heavy Lifting, a collaboration
with book artist, Felicia Rice, resulting in an artists’ book, a film,
and a collection of poetry based on the personal and collective crises
of the past years.
Feel free to bring poetry books to sell.
Copies of Bill Bradd's book of poetry,"Continent of Ghosts" will be
available for purchase by San Francisco Publisher, Wild Ocean Press.
