Neighbors,
below is part of a post from Scott Cratty, Exec Director of the Mendocino County Fire Safe Council (MCFSC) from an update on the fire insurance discussion happening now in California. Even though nothing is yet settled, the chart (if you click on it, you can enlarge it and actually read it) below gives you indications of the types of fire safe measures folks may be wanting to undertake in future to protect your house from wildfire and maintain your insurance.
Cheers, Anna Garza

Who is IBHS? The Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit scientific research and communications organization supported by property insurers, reinsurers, and affiliated companies.
Who is CDI? California Department of Insurance. "Safer from Wildfires" is a ground-up approach to wildfire resilience with three layers of protection — for the structure, the immediate surroundings, and the community.

I just received the attached. It is a handy chart that compares what requirements the insurance industry is proposing as home safety requirements (Safer from Wildfire) with the standards that the State of CA is proposing (Safer from Wildfire). These will likely continue to evolve. E.g., both are planning on adding some community preparedness requirement as well.

It is also still unknown exactly what good it will do if you meet the standards. But, that is also starting to take shape. E.g., I understand that Allstate has started to rollout requiring certifcation that a home meets the basic Wildfire Prepared standard before it renews policies. If you are on the Fair Plan and meet the Safer from Wildfire standards you can get nearly 15% off on your policy.

In any case the chart provides guidance about priority issues to address for people who want to protect their homes and maybe still be able to get insurance.
