Dear poets and lovers of poetry,
Please join us at the Mendocino Open Mic Reading Series at the Mendocino
Art Center. The reading is being held at the Stevenson gallery located
in the Art Center courtyard. The reading is from 4-6 p.m., Saturday,
July 27th.
This is a free event with donations requested to cover the cost of
renting the space. The reading will begin with two featured readers,
followed by a brief break and open mic.
Our two featured readers are Point Arena poet, Blake More, and Bay Area
poet, Prartho Sereno.

Featured Reader Bio's:
Current Point Arena Poet Laureate, poet Blake More is an artist of
multiple paths including performance, video, media arts, painting cars
and teaching. She is a longtime poetry teacher with California Poets in
the Schools. She hosts a monthly poetry & jazz event and two radio
shows: Be More Now on KZYX&Z FM Mendocino County Public Broadcasting and
Cartwheels on the Sky on KGUA FM Gualala. She will be reading from her
most recent book is Dystopia Unplugged: Please Talk Back. Learn more at

Prartho Sereno credits four+ years of inner exploration in India as her
strongest creative influence, but also nods to excursions into other art
forms: counseling psychologist, vegetarian cook, mother of 2, Phys. Ed.
instructor at Cornell University, book and cover illustrator, and
amateur singer-songwriter. She has published 5 poetry collections, 4 of
which have won national prizes, most recently Starfall in the Temple
(Blue Light Press, Fall 2023). Poet Laureate Emerita of Marin County
(2015-17), MFA Syracuse University (2013), and Radio Disney Super
Teacher (2005), she was a Poet in the Schools for 21 years and currently
teaches The Poetic Pilgrimage: Poem-Making as Spiritual Practice online.
