The Path Least Traveled

 

You don’t have to talk to God,

God doesn’t want your words

nor the understanding of your mind,

only the playfulness of your soul

on the trail of discovery.

 

The path least traveled is hard to decipher;

when you look at the whole range

finding your way looks impossible,

only tall grasses and brushes all around,

thorns and brambles everywhere.

 

It’s only when you borrow that path,

put one foot in front of the other,  

that it will make itself known a step at a time. 

Still you are never sure

that it’s entirely your own.

 

Deer might have started it,

or it could be the night trail of a raccoon,

maybe it leads to the dwelling of a hermit.

You’ll never know until you have followed it

to the very end

 

playfully,

full of curiosity,

in the spirit of discovery.
