Hi Everyone
This is a very important petition to save our local forests. If you view

Dear
Roslyn!
As
the
Fall
Equinox
tiptoes
closer,
the
shift
into
the
colder
seasons
has
begun
and
has
us
bundling
up
in
cozy
sweaters
and
sipping
hot
tea
while
we
work
diligently
on
keeping
our
forests
of
Northwest
California
intact
and
healthy.
Today
we
have
an
action
for
you
to
take
regarding
another
potentially
disastrous
timber
harvest
plan,
which
seeks
to
use
the
banned
method
of
"Hack
and
Squirt"
while
cutting
around
riparian
zones.
Use
our
form
below
and
let
the
Mendocino
Redwood
Company
know
that
these
negative
environmental
impacts
should
not
be
allowed
in
such
sensitive
areas.
In
addition,
we
have
some
more
important
news.
We
are
honored
to
present
our
new
EPIC
Land
Acknowledgement,
which
was
developed
in
collaboration
with
a
representative
of
the
Wiyot
Tribe,
and
to
share
some
knowledge
on
the
importance
of
land
acknowledgements.
And
lastly,
we
are
very
saddened
to
report
on
some
unfortunate
developments
within
the
Richardson
Grove
project,
but
despite
the
fallback,
we
promise
to
continue
our
work
to
protect
the
root
systems
of
Grove's
ancient
redwoods.
For

The
EPIC
Team
Action
Alert:
Stop
Destructive
Logging
In
Mendocino!
The
Mendocino
Redwood
Company
(MRC)
is
planning
to
log
a
section
of
forest
containing
old
growth
trees,
salmon
habitat,
and
northern
spotted
owl
habitat.
The
proposed
Russell
Brook
Timber
Harvest
Plan
(THP)
“1-20-00218-MEN”
would
conduct
830
acres
of
logging
within
a
variety
of
sensitive
habitats,
including
using
destructive
techniques
such
as
"Hack
and
Squirt".
The
Russell
Brook
THP
would
seriously
negatively
impact
the
environment
and
requires
more
environmental
review
before
it
can
be
approved.
Let
them
know
that
you
oppose
destructive
logging
in
this
sensitive
area!

EPIC
Land
Acknowledgement
At
the
link
below,
you
can
find
EPIC’s
new
land
acknowledgment
that
was
developed
in
collaboration
with
a
representative
of
the
Wiyot
Tribe.
In
addition
to
sharing
our
acknowledgment,
we
also
wanted
to
take
this
opportunity
to
educate
our
membership
about
the
importance
of
land
acknowledgements
and
how
to
develop
them
without
being
performative.
Land
acknowledgments
are
a
way
of
recognizing
the
Indigenous
People
whose
lands
you
or
your
organization
exist
on.
If
you
live
in
America,
you
exist
on
Native
lands.
Land
acknowledgements
shouldn’t
only
be
an
opportunity
to
educate
yourself
about
the
people
whose
lands
you
occupy.
Instead,
they
are
an
opportunity
to
make
a
pledge
to
behave
in
accordance
with
the
knowledge
that
you
exist
on
Native
land.

Land
Acknowledgement
Statement
on
Richardson
Grove
Our
campaign
to
protect
Richardson
Grove
State
Park
against
a
risky
proposal
to
widen
the
highway
through
a
grove
of
ancient
redwoods
suffered
a
setback
in
late
August.
Judge
Alsup
of
the
Northern
District
Court
of
California
ruled
for
Caltrans,
throwing
out
the
remainder
of
EPIC’s
claims
against
the
project.
This
comes
in
the
wake
of
a
Ninth
Circuit
decision
that
overturned
a
previous
victory
at
the
Northern
District
Court
of
California.

Update
In
July

August,
we
asked
you,

to

in
on
the

redistricting
efforts
to
preserve
the

in

districts.
You
turned
out
in

that
