Hello Everyone,

Thought you might like to know that Oasis is resting so comfortably and peacefully, covered by a warm blanket, breathing effortlessly. Candy Cole, Oasis' special friend, was lying beside him on top of the covers.  She knows how he likes to be tucked in, have his hands massaged, and she talks so easily with him when he becomes aware of her presence--she can make him smile.  He is clearly liking the serene atmosphere she brings with her light and joyful spirit.  He asked for water, and Candy gave him some from a straw, cautioning him not to drink too much.  Serena, Oasis' daughter, had said that she is in favor of giving him anything he asks for.  She left a while ago and Candy told me she plans to be back Sunday.

Oasis recognized me as he looked out from his half-closed eyes and called me by name.  I was amazed at how good his coloring is and how relaxed he looks.  Hospice was there today, took his blood pressure and I gather they will be back next week.  Edward was taking a much needed break with his friends for a couple of hours.  The peaceful silence was broken by the phone ringing, and it was Alene checking on her and Riantee's time to sit with Oasis tomorrow.

Candy and I were saying to each other how glad we are that Oasis life was celebrated by his many friends and family, and to have his friends support his choice to leave his body now.  We were wishing that we could be so blessed with friends and family around us when it is our turn to go.

Everybody I talked to is so very appreciative to the group of friends who dreamed, and who were able to put it all together for Oasis, and for us.  Amazing how you exquisitely lovely people pulled it off and treated us to delicious pizzas to boot!  Thank you!

Dear Community ~~~~  All this has come up rather quickly since the “Celebration of Life” i.e. “Living Memorial” for Oasis~!!!  Oasis is now preparing to leave his body and continue his journey...
~~~~~ Thank you everyone that attended the Oasis “Living Memorial Gathering” at the Caspar Center last Thursday ~ It was a wonderful honoring event for Oasis and a true representation of living in a community of loving support when needs arise~.

 ~ Right now Oasis is resting comfortably as he has entered into his end-of-life phase ~~~~~ he has stopped drinking water and is no longer eating~.  He is at home as are his wishes and he is being cared for by Edward Carter and our community members ~~~~ the past two days have been very much involved in getting him settled and comfortable per his end-of-life "5 wishes” ~~ several people in including myself came to meet the challenges but more help is needed for the near term ~ most likely Oasis will leave his body in the next 5 days at some point:

~ Although Edward is a house mate with Oasis ~ Edward / Oasis need help~.  Here is what is needed:

1. Someone to coordinate volunteers for sitting with Oasis ~ in 1 or 2 hr. shifts (or more) Pls. contact me A.S.A.P.

2. Someone willing to spend the night if possible (I over-nighted on the couch last night with my sleeping bag)

3. If anyone would like to pay last respects to Oasis ~ the next few days would be the best~.

4. We are asking that everyone that visits or sits with Oasis pls. speak quietly as Oasis is very sensitive to moderate and loud voices & sounds~. He may not be communicative~.

~~~ Maggie Watson is also coordinating with hospice and health care~.
