10' SPOT FIRE REPORTED ON BRANSCOMB ROAD, WESTPORT
2 FIRES REPORTED - MILE MARKERS 5.0 & 9.0
The scanner said (9:59 am) CalFire & the Westport Fire Department were
dispatched to a reported "10-foot spot fire" located near mile marker 5-25
on Branscomb Road - about five miles in from Highway 1.
ANOTHER FIRE
Dispatch said there was a second fire reported on Branscomb Road at mile
marker 9.0.
Fire assets are spread thin - but the scanner traffic indicated there are
a couple local engines and two from out-of-state (Type 3 engines from New
Mexico & Texas) that would be available to respond if needed. They are
awaiting a report from the scene.
UPDATE
***At 10:37 am, dispatch said responding units could reduce their response
to "Code 2" (no lights/sirens).
***Units have UTL (unable to locate) the fire reported at mile marker 9.0
- they are waiting to hear from Westport Fire coming east.
***At 10:39 am, units on the scene declared "UTL" - Unable to Locate" but
units will stage at their present locations.
***10:43 AM--A unit reported they ran into an individual that discovered
the fire at mile marker 5.0 and put it out with water they had in their
vehicle. Units can be canceled to the incident with the exception of the
lead CalFire engine.
