To My Tribe
We all sing the same promising song,
we all extend the same hopeful words,
we hear in the same way
the phrases of those ‘out there’ who sing so well,
the messages of masters ‘out there’ who expound great truths
to their revering disciples.
I do get a larger perspective ‘out there’
when a diaphanous butterfly flutters
and caresses the elusive flower,
when a breath of wind sends a shiver down the river’s surface,
when the breeze rippling down branches ignites the cosmic dance.
I get it in Autumn when the foliage blushes in anticipation
of the fiery embrace,
when trees and bushes dare to burst into flaming red,
or when Spring’s whisperings scatters pink all over the orchard.
I see it ‘out there’
anywhere
everywhere,
but do I see it,
do I hear it
‘inside,’
do I know ‘in here’ who I truly am
or from where do I come,
do I know
that everything I see,
everything I hear
originates within,
that nothing exists outside of me,
that I didn’t come into form just to survive
but to create.
Do I know how complete I am
in union
and relationship
with everything,
everyone,
everywhere,
do I really know
how perfect
what is
IS?
