Given the discussion today at the LCP meeting, we should indentify "weasel" words. We need to be specific and have alternative language prepared. The term Commissioner Cornwall pulled out and gained some traction was "when feasible" stood out as a weasel term. Very weak ---and goes toward financial feasibility in the eyes of the developer! It is very weak language if you're interested in coastal resource protection.

"Carrying capacity" came up and even a proposal to define it and place that in glossary... interesting.
We are focused on environmental carrying capacity but it was being used in context of traffic.

And lastly, Comm. Cornwall brought up the that coastal resource protection and limit on more VMT were missing.... basically saying that we need to say new development must result in no new NET vmt.... otherwise the LCP allows more traffic with each new development....

These ideas did not trigger opposition but mostly support. Staff needs to work these ideas out and maybe we can help them and remind them of these suggestions....so they don't get lost.

>> Friday, May 13, 2022: Deadline for submission of changes, comments by Commissioners, the public and anyone else in order for Staff to have time for review and/or incorporation. Comments can be submitted after this date, but changes to the amended version provided to the Commission for consideration will be less likely - as Staff won’t have time to incorporate them. A caveat that was clear is that any/all amendments must be consistent with the Coastal Act and CCC’s comments.
>> Wednesday, June 29, 2022: Proposed final deliberation and vote by Planning Commission on LCP will be held at 1:00 PM. The Public will have one (1) opportunity for input, likely after the Staff Report. No additional time will be allowed. It will be a long night probably in any case.

The commission as a whole is not aware of the alternative schedule yet and since they have not provided formal direction it technically does not exist - yet. Mr. Orr advised caution until they sign off!
