One-way control Traffic Control on State Route 1 North of Bodega Bay, Sonoma County
SONOMA COUNTY – Caltrans will close one lane of State Route 1 (SR-1) north of Bodega Bay between Calle del Sol and Rock Point Beach from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM on Monday, March 29, until Friday, May 21, 2021 – excluding weekends.  

The closures will allow PG&E to underground electric services and remove power poles along the three-quarter mile stretch of highway. 



Lane closures will occur only in the southbound direction and will be limited to about a quarter-mile span at a time. Flaggers will direct one-way traffic control during the closures.

The utility undergrounding precedes the Gleason Beach Realignment Project <https://gleasonbeachrealignment.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0b9db4c8df824e02e6ac0f089&id=295556383f&e=fed7cfa86f>due to begin in July 2021. The project will reconstruct the highway, moving it inland as far as 400-feet, bypassing the rapidly eroding cliffs along Gleason Beach. The project also includes building an 850-foot bridge to span Scotty Creek, which currently runs through a culvert beneath the highway.
