This is great. Thanks for sending it along. I’ll share it with others if that’s alright.

I sent the invitation below earlier today … all eyes on the coast!

In case you need some virtual outdoor inspiration ….

have a wonderful weekend, and thank you very much for your continuing dedication to our coast.

From the Land Trust:
The thing I love most about Sonoma County is the sheer variety of its landscapes and climates. Hiking the stunning and deliciously cool coastal bluff trails of West County last weekend was a welcome break from the sweltering temperatures of the interior valleys. Brisk, salt-laden wind and spray were just the right tonics for heat-induced torpor, and the sunlit ocean framed everything in turquoise light. In this era of responsible park use and social distancing, it's a joy to find deserted coves and quiet forests among the state and regional parks that dot the shoreline. Each one opens up new sights at every turn, from basking harbor seals and aerobatic exhibitions from Peregrine falcons to gorgeous displays of flowering Dudleya perched along the cliff faces.
I'm probably a little biased in this, but for me, the jewel in this crown of seaside riches is the Jenner Headlands — 5,630 acres of spectacular habitat saved by Sonoma Land Trust and our partners despite the enormous obstacles created by the last recession. It's a salutary lesson in how perseverance and a collective vision can inspire such monumental victories for people and nature, even in the hardest of times. We draw confidence from this and the many other difficulties we've surmounted in our 40-year history. As we face just such another time of uncertainty, we're girding for the challenges ahead and ensuring we can advance our mission of protecting nature, expanding access to the outdoors and blunting the impacts of climate change.
I'm looking forward to sharing the Land Trust's vision for the future with you in an online conversation next Thursday evening, July 23, hosted by the Land Trust's dear friend Doug McConnell of Bay Area Backroads and OpenRoad fame. It'll be a fun conversation so get your questions ready and register here <https://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=53266226&msgid=748502&act=S8UE&c=304705&destination=https%3A%2F%2Fsonomalandtrust.zoom.us%2Fwebinar%2Fregister%2F5815946786169%2FWN_VVcA99S4QUq3fBnPjDYCEA&cf=79567&v=057bb341dcb35d4b3f609f841cc94cda0d27cf9f9e41abf8099764781e9de977>.
