Friends of the River is organizing the California Rivers Day on Monday, May 11th to promote sustainable water solutions to the drought that protect our rivers and we need you! Twenty-five river groups are coming in from across the state to give rivers a strong voice in the state capitol and you can participate by signing up to meet with your legislator that day, volunteering for the event, or just showing up on the West Steps of the Capitol just before noon for the main program and press conference.
Sign up to visit your legislator on Monday, May 11th Appointments can occur anytime between 9am and 4pm. We will match you up with your legislator and provide training calls where we’ll brief participants on the issues and get you set up and ready to go.

Dams, dams, dams everywhere,
but not a drop of water to spare?
Politicians and their dam supporters say
build them, build them, and build them anywhere.
But you and nature know, dams don’t make it rain.
even the facts say to build any more is truly in vain.
Will we let billions be spent for pointless cement?
Or will we stand up and never relent?
We will speak for our rivers - will you?
Will you be the voice of your river?
Will you speak for the treasures that have no voice?
