[Rotary] The Torch is Coming to Mendocino! 🔥

Good afternoon Club Members!

I’m excited to share that our club will be participating in the Rotary
District 5130 World Polio Torch Relay this October!

>From October 2-24, Rotary clubs throughout our District will carry the
torch from Crescent City to Petaluma, raising awareness and funds for
Rotary’s ongoing fight to eradicate polio.

Our coastal clubs are working together, with Fort Bragg kicking off the
coastal leg on Saturday, October 10. They’ll hand the torch off to us, and
we’ll bring it into Mendocino Village at approximately 2 p.m., ending at
Rotary Park for a community celebration from 3-4 p.m. The torch will
continue south to Gualala on Sunday.

Right now, we need your help spreading the word and finding sponsors! I’ve
attached our flyer with sponsorship and donation information. Sponsorships
are $100 for a ¼-mile segment and $150 for a ½-mile segment, and sponsors
will have the opportunity to carry the torch.

And here’s the really exciting part: every dollar donated is matched 2-to-1
by the Gates Foundation, so $1 becomes $3 toward ending polio! For
Rotarians, personal contributions to PolioPlus also count toward Paul
Harris Fellow recognition.
