Hi Mendocino Rotary Club,At our last meeting, I floated the idea of doing a simple, fun fundraiser in Rotary Park during the WhaleFest Wine Walk celebration on Saturday, March 7th, and I wanted to follow up with a few more details. It’s shaping up to be a big weekend in the Village with the 50th Anniversary of the Whale Wars, the Wine Walk, and lots of related activities. We’re expecting great foot traffic, and if the weather cooperates (which it sounds like it will!), the park should be buzzing between 1:00pm and 4:00pm (the same hours as the Wine Walk). My thought is that Rotary could set up our popcorn machine in the park and sell fresh popcorn during those hours. It’s inexpensive, easy to manage, and a great way to be visible while raising a little money. We could also set up a small table to sell Dining Raffle tickets at the same time.We didn’t decide at the meeting where the proceeds would go, but I’d suggest highlighting our students. Set out a donation jar designated for student scholarships, RYLA Camp, or even helping offset the Interact lunches (we’re currently spending about $200/month on pizza). It would be a nice way to connect the fundraiser directly to youth programs we care about. If the club would like to move forward with this, I’m reaching out because I’ll need someone to help take the reins and coordinate. I’m happy to support however I can, but I’m serving on the Chamber WhaleFest Committee and will also be hosting a winery at Engel & Völkers that day so my dance card is pretty full. Please let me know your thoughts. I think this could be a fun, low-lift way to show up in the community and raise a little extra support for our programs.Warmly,MargaretMargaret BlackMarketing Advisor Concierge ENGEL&VÖLKERSMendocino10483 Lansing StreetMendocino, CA 95460USAO +1 707-937-5071C +1 707-972-9855margaret.black at evrealestate.commendocino.evrealestate.comNorthern California Meeting & Training CalendarEach brokerage is independently owned and operated.
