[Rotary] New idea ….week end walk up the haul road in Mendocino

Dear friends ,
We are a dymanic rotary club…… thinking of new ways to be together .

And now there is an idea afoot  , for a weekly , weekend  , walk ……

Many new  ideas are being floated . Feel free to suggest one or two ….

My idea is to walk up the haul road at Big River …….
Time frame is  either at 930 am or a 4 pm ,…… for the walk . Saturday or Sunday …..

The Goals …..to be with each other and allow free form  , honest and fun communication , to tell stories and be creative .

Meaning …..the start time is flexible and if you are running late , no problem ….we will see you , on the return turn walk  , back to the parking lot .  

The parking lot , is on the east end of the Big River parking lot ….. …..we all walk at different paces and seeing each other on the trail allows groups to break up and reform …..

Donna and John Cottle and I ride bikes ……this could easily turn into a weekly bike ride or Jeff likes the kayak  on the river experience  , on the river ……..we could organize a Kayak trip up the river to do a bird watching  , seal and otter watching .

And  another idea a float …..Is to rent Kayaks …..Catch a canoe rents kayaks , that seat 4 easily  , and a few larger ones that seat 6…….one kayak has a solar power and is electric ,  for those who are not paddle ready ………but this idea has costs involved .

Back to the walk idea ……there are a few benches up the river road , to stop and rest upon ….we could invite friends and invite potential members to walk with us …..

I would be glad to post  a note “on the list serve” of  our offering of the walk up the rivir , with the rotary walking group .

The haul road is a wide flat road and it is simple  to walk , takes about 20 minutes ,  arriving at the old quarry, which has recently been filled and is being returned to a natural state . Another option , which is do is walk to the old Boom , which is two miles up the haul road  , and then turn around , which makes a 4 mile total walk .

Family …..grandkids and kids …….are invited…..say family is visiting , bring them along !

The are places on the walk  haul road with good cell service , for that brief cell call ,  one  may need  to place ….
