President-elect Margaret opened the meeting since Toby was attending wife Leona who had a broken hip.
it was a well-attended meeting with 12 regular members and 3 guests attending. Leon Thomsen, who has paid his dues but not yet been inducted, was with us as were Kathy Karabensh and Sue Ciminotti.
We did the pin check and happy dollars, and turned to old business starting with 4th of July in the Park, which is looking good thanks to the efforts of Matt O'Halloran and several others.
Gary is our coordinator for the 4th. Noting that we will need every possible person there, he asked that we meet at 10:00 to set up and start cooking at 11:00. We will offer hot dogs for $7.00, as well as popcorn, water bottles and soft drinks, each appropriately priced. Harvest Market is donating $250 for food. We will purchase 400 hot dogs and buns, and so should expect revenues in excess of $3,000. The garden bakery will offer Mexican pastries. The band, Caspar Kings, will set up at about 12:30 and play from 1:00 to 4:00. They will set up on the concrete pad at the entrance to the shed, leaving space for club members to enter and exit. Jeff will liase with the Band. We will have a promotional table or tables, at which we will accept donations and sell raffle tickets, with at least two persons manning them, and 9 persons cooking and serving food. We will meet at 12:00 Monday in the Park to finalize arrangements for the 4th.
The district grant deadline of August 1 is fast approaching. By that time we need to have a project with a purpose, scope, cost, implementation arrangements and financing all agreed with the beneficiary. We have contacted most of the local NGOs as well as Ray on the Park and Savusavu Rotary. It looks right now that we have a good project which is the fence and sand box for the Community Center. We will meet on Monday at 11:00 with Peg to discuss.
We will finalize the membership list tomorrow. Any club member who will not wish to remain in the club next year should let me know immediately.
Leona being out of action for a while, Margaret will take over the dinner raffle. All members should get tickets from her and return certificates and ticket stubs to her.
District Governor Jim Brady will visit on July 31-August 1.
Just before the meeting, Brandt circulated the draft budget for next year. All club members please read it and be prepared to discuss at our Board meeting on July 11 or before.
The meeting closed, on time!! We collected $45 in meeting fees which suggests some members did not pay. If you did not pay, please make up for it.
That's all for now.
