Hello Mendocino Rotarians,

Mendocino Rotary is honored to have Fort Bragg Police Chief Neil Cervenka
speak to our club and talk about the Proposition 47 grant and how FBPD
would be able to expand their Care Response Unit services south to Albion.

Proposition 47 was a voter-approved initiative on the November 2014 ballot
that reduced from felonies to misdemeanors specified low-level drug and
property crimes. Each year, the state savings generated by the
implementation of Proposition 47 are deposited into the Safe Neighborhoods
and Schools Fund. Sixty-five percent of these savings are set aside
annually for the grant program. Proposition 47 requires that these funds be
awarded to public agencies to provide mental health services, substance use
disorder treatment and/or diversion programs for those in the criminal
justice system.

During his time with us, Chief Cervenka would also like to address some of
the challenges that Ted Williams spoke about during our TownHall Meeting.

This is a great opportunity to hear about the vision and implementation of
much needed services here in our coastal communities. It is also a
wonderful opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to this Rotary
meeting and join us as we work as a united front to put positive change
into action. ✨
