[Rotary] Subject: Notes of Meeting of 11/30/23

Dear Mendocino Rotarians, 
We had an excellent small meeting today, with 8 persons present. They were Toby, Jeff, Brandt, Ray, John, Michael Brown, Leona, Mike Garratt and Matt Davis. 
We were happy to receive Matt Davis' application for membership, and will plan to process it on a fast-track basis for approval this Rotary half-year. We were more than happy to induct Michael Brown, after the usual pageantry, speeches, etc.
Following the pledge, pin check, happy dollars etc. Michael told the joke of the day and Jeff gave the thought for the day. 
We encouraged all members to look in on Annie Liner, Harold Hauck and Jerry Karabensh, all confined more or less to home due to illness and frailty. We extend our good thoughts and best wishes to all of them, and hope to see them in the park soon.
We talked about the dine out raffle for next year, and decided to firm that up at our next meetings. Two questions here: how many tickets (150 may be a lot) and when will we do it? Thanks for Leona, Toby and Ray for making our largest fund raiser of the year happen again.
We reminded members to collect used, serviceable, clean winter clothing and drop them off at Engels and Volkers or Jeff's house. You may also buy socks at the hardware store which I think offers a discount for Rotarians.
We reminded all members to pay their dues of $240 for the year asap. This is much lower than some other clubs, so it is a bargain. John Cottle will call the 9 members who have not paid yet. 
Jeff will stand in for Jerry as speaker coordinator. 
Matt drew the winning ticket for a bottle of wine. 
The pot now stands at $363 so the winner stands to take home $181.50. There are now 17 cards in the deck, so there is a pretty good chance the joker will be drawn before we finish the Rotary year. 
Our next meeting will be a Board meeting, on December 7. It will be followed by our next general meeting, and the last general meeting of this year, on December 14.
