[Rotary] Rotary: International: Fence update

All,
The fence we are funding at the Victory School of Hope in Vanuatu is progressing well, despite the pandemic. Here are some photos the head of the school, Zebedee Tanga, sent us two days ago. Most of the front wall has been constructed, and they are about to begin the sides running perpendicular to the road.
At this point the school has spent all the funds provided by Katikati, and is about to begin using our the funds provided by ourselves and Fort Bragg. It looks as if we will have a cost overrun, and we are talking with the school about ways to reduce the cost, as for example replacing the concrete columns with galvanized iron posts that are moderately larger and stronger than the galvanized iron posts they are using at present, reducing the number of posts and reducing the amount of cement and plywood used in construction.
The school has submitted receipts for the work done to date and is preparing an updated bill of quantities and cost estimate incorporating our suggestions. When it is done we will review it and then expect to give the go-ahead to continue construction.
