Matt, Donna, Ray, Holly Madrigal (a new Mendocino resident, past Rotarian
and friend of our club) and I had a glorious time today getting dirty. We
planted 2-3 dozen perennials on the quarter circle slope northeast of the
picnic tables, an area soon to be graced with the Founder's Stones. A tree
and shrubs were also planted near the southeast corner. Soil amendments,
fertilizer, and water were generously added, amid joy and laughter.

We had so much fun that we decided to make it a regular event, every
Saturday at 10:00 for the near future. If you wish to contribute working
hands or just sit and enjoy excellent company while cheering us on, please
meet us there. It is expected that it will be a different crew every
week. Matt, Ray, Donna, and I are the informal maintenance committee, and
one of us should be on hand to direct. There is always something to do,
including raking, watering, weeding, gathering eucalyptus sticks, and
eventually more to plant. Bring gloves, a mask, and a cheerful
disposition. We will have extra tools available, bring a rake if you have
a favorite one.
